10-DAY ITINERARY
(Oct 1)
Leave the US for Italy, arriving one day later.
Oct 2
Arrive at Malpensa airport (MXP) in Milan, drive to our lodging, Cascina Marcantonio in Acqui Terme, Piedmont. A tour and tasting at Marenco Vini, meet the Marenco family, explore the town of Acqui Terme
Oct 3-4
Drive to our next lodging in Dogliani, Casa Pecchenino in the Langhe, Piedmont
Wine tasting with Aldo Vacca, Direttore di produttori del Barbaresco, a pasta making demo of the traditional, local tarjarin and lunch at Trattoria Antica Torre with chef/owner Maurizio Alberello in Barbaresco. Also planned, a truffle hunt, exploration of villages and castles.
Oct 5-6
Take the train/van to the Chianti area and settle into our lodging in the historic abby, Badia a Coltibuono, Gaiole. Here we will have a hands-on cooking class, cellar tour and, of course, eat and drink our fare. We will visit wineries including, Monte Bernardi in Panzano, and explore villages and the countryside.
Day 7-10
We leave Chianti and head for Contignano in the Val d’Orcia with a stop in Siena for a guided tour and lunch before continuing to our lodging at the historic agriturismo, La Montalla. In the evening a cooking lesson by Eufemia for her famous spinaci and ricotta ravioli and dinner. We will tour the wineries of Argiano and Fossacolle in Montalcino and after a walking tour of Montepulciano, we will taste the Vino Nobile wines, explore the Etruscan tomb of the Infernal Quadriga in Sarteano, visit the organic farm and restaurant of Casale il Podere for a pizza making class and dinner, have Bistecca alla Fiorentina at La Toraia and visit hill towns.
Oct 11
Today we drive or take the train to Rome and settle into our hotel in the heart of the city, a tour of the Pantheon is first and then an aperitivo in the piazza followed by a walk through the Baroque streets, including Piazza Navona, and then enjoy our arrivederci dinner and the official end to our tour.

Fly home from the Fiumicino airport (FCO), dreaming of Italian vineyards.
